The European Cooperation for Space Standardization (ECSS) issued the ECSS-M-50B - Space Project Management - Information/Documentation Management standard as part of a collection of ECSS standards belonging to the management branch.

The standard cancels and replaces ECSS-M-50A.

ECSS-M-50B describes the processes and defines the requirements for the management of information/documentation within space programs and projects.

The standard does not cover defense information and documentation.

The requirements of the standard apply to and affect the customer and supplier at all levels.

According to ECSS, when viewed from the perspective of a specific project context, the requirements defined in this standard should be tailored, or made applicable to a specific program or project, to match the genuine requirements of the particular profile and circumstances of a project.
