The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Audio Systems Committee will revise ANSI/CEA 2009-A - Receiver Performance Specification for Public Alert Receivers to address changing technology.
The standard defines minimum performance criteria for consumer electronics products designed to receive hazard alert signals broadcast by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Weather Radio Network.
The current standard is being used by the consumer electronics industry to produce NOAA Weather Radio receivers that have a minimum feature set and meet minimum performance criteria, according to the CEA.
Products that comply with ANSI/CEA 2009-A are eligible to carry CEA's public alert logo, which helps consumers identify products that have the features and performance levels specified in ANSI/CEA 2009-A.
