NEW YORKâThe Homeland Security Standards Panel of the American National Standards Institute has scheduled its third plenary meeting for Dec. 13-14, 2004 at the National Institute of Standards and Technology campus in Gaithersburg, Md.
The meeting will bring together the homeland security standards community to review progress that the panel has made in the last several months and identify areas of work to be further explored.
A preliminary agenda for the day-and-a-half meeting includes a session, "Security Standards Making a Difference," covering the Oct. 28 U.S. Department of Homeland Security adoption of INCITS 385, Information Technology - Face Recognition Format for Data Interchange.
The session will also cover radiation detection standards adopted by DHS earlier this year.
Other topics to be covered during the interactive sessions are emergency preparedness (including private/public sector and individual preparedness), an update on the Homeland Security Standards Database Project in partnership with DHS, and a session on international standards initiatives with a report from the ISO Advisory Group on Security and other international groups.
Registration is open and must be submitted to ANSI no later than Dec. 3. Due to security protocols at the meeting venue, no on-site registrations will be accepted and all attendees must be pre-registered.
