Scope:
PURPOSE
This Directive reissues reference (a) to establish policy and
assign responsibilities under reference (b) regarding Basic
Allowance for Subsistence (BAS) for (the Department of Defense and
the Department of Homeland Security) military personnel.
APPLICABILITY
This Directive applies to the Office of the Secretary of
Defense, the Military Departments (including the Coast Guard when
it is not operating as a Service in the Navy by agreement with the
Department of Homeland Security), the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs
of Staff, the Combatant Commands, the Office of Inspector General
of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field
Activities, and all other organizational entities within the
Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as "the
DoD Components"). The term "Military Services," as used herein,
refers to the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Marine Corps, and
the Coast Guard. The term "Secretary concerned," as used herein,
means the Secretary of the Army, the Secretary of the Navy, or the
Secretary of the Air Force, or the Secretary of Homeland Security
with respect to the Coast Guard when not operating as a Service
within the Navy.
