Scope:
The equipment specified herein consists of a rack mounted
monitor, linear detectors and monitor antennas which are used to monitor the
radiated signals of an instrument-landing-system localizer or glide slope
facility. The equipment is used to actuate an alarm circuit and an automatic
transfer circuit to place standby transmitter equipment in operation whenever
transmitted signals are in error by more than a present amount. The functions
monitored are course/path, course width/path width, modulation level, RF level
and identification signal (on localizer only). Monitoring of either the
localizer or glide slope facility is achieved by identical monitors (excluding
the identification monitor channel required for the localizer). Two types of
linear detectors, monitor antennas and monitors are covered herein.
