Scope:
This Standard prescribes NASA's requirements, procedures, and
documenting requirements for hand and machine soldering of surface
mount electrical connections. The requirements established in this
publication shall be utilized for the development of
project-related processes (Requirement). These may be tailored to
the program applications to obtain the most cost effective, best
quality product.
Purpose
This publication sets forth soldering requirements for reliable
Surface Mount Technology (SMT).
Applicability
This publication is applicable to NASA Centers and programs
utilizing SMT for flight hardware, mission critical ground support
equipment, and elements thereof, and where invoked
contractually.
