Scope:
This specification covers wooden mallets and mauls (wood only).
Federal specifications do not include all varieties of the commodity as indicated by the title of the specification, or which are commercially available, but are intended to cover only those generally used by the Federal Government.
Mallets and mauls shall be of the following types and classes, as specified (see 6.2):
Type I.—Mallets, calking.
Type II.—Mallets, carpenters'.
Class 1.—Round.
Class 2.—Round, reinforced head.
Class 3.—Square.
Type III.—Mallets, coppersmiths'
Type IV.—Mallets, hawsing (beetles).
Type V.—Mallets, serving.
Type VI.—Mallets, tinners'
Type VIII.—Mauls, ringbound.
Type IX.—Mauls, laminated-head.
