Scope:

REISSUANCE AND PURPOSE. This Directive:

Reissues reference (a) to update policy and assign responsibilities for the Montgomery GI Bill (MGIB) Program.

Provides guidance concerning references (b) and (c).

APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE.

The Office of the Secretary of Defense, the Military Departments (including the Coast Guard when, by agreement with the Department of Transportation (DOT), it is not operating as a Military Service of the Department of the Navy), the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Combatant Command, the Office of the Inspector General of the Department of Defense, the Defense Agencies, the DoD Field Activities, and all other organizational entities within the Department of Defense (hereafter referred to collectively as "the DoD Components").

The Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under agreement with the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Commerce, respectively.
