Scope:
Electrical or electronic measuring or testing equipment
This standard applies to electrical, electronic, or electromechanical
measuring or testing equipment designed:
a) to
-measure, or
-observe, and
indicate quantities of
-electrical, or Measuring Equipment
-electronic
phenomena, or
b) to supply
-electrical, or Testing Equipment
-electronic
quantities for measuring purposes.
(Inclusion of equipment that measures or indicates electrical analogs of
other phenomena is under consideration.)
Auxiliary or accessory equipment
This standard also applies to auxiliary equipment and accessories rated
for use with electrical, electronic, or electromechanical measuring and
testing equipment wherein auxiliary and accessory equipment is separate
and does not itself perform the desired function but is used in addition
to or as a supplement to equipment according to 1.1.1.
Equipment covered
Electrical, electronic, and electromechanical measuring and testing
equipment includes, but is not necessarily restricted to:
a) indicating and recording measuring equipment,
b) electrical and recording measuring equipment,
c) signal generators and other equipment supplying electrical
quantities (voltage, current, and/or waveforms) for measuring or testing
purposes,
d) measurement standards, potentiometers, and measuring bridges,
e) substitute power supplies used in addition to or as a supplement to
equipment according to this Sub-clause.
Constraints
This standard applies to equipment that:
a) is rated for connection to an unlimited voltage or power-supply
source, according to Clause 16, (ac or dc or both), but does not exceed
