Scope:
This instruction covers the NAVAIR METCAL Program, which
encompasses all areas of Naval and Marine Corps aviation units where Support
Equipment (SE)/Test and Monitoring Systems (TAMS), including reference
Calibration Standards (CALSTDS), are used for research, development, design,
construction, inspection, test, acceptance, maintenance, production, or
operation of prime systems and equipment. Its provisions are applicable to all
Naval and Marine Corps Aviation Calibration Laboratories and activities,
including other activities or agencies requiring services from or providing
services to the NAVAIR METCAL Program.
Purpose. To provide policy, designate responsibilities, and
prescribe procedures and processes for the development and implementation of
the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Metrology and Calibration (METCAL)
Quality Assurance Program (QAP). This QAP will ensure that each Naval Aviation
Calibration Laboratory is technically adequate to provide the required quality
of calibration products and services necessary to support its customers.
