Scope:
This manual establishes the requirements, procedures, and
practices for the preparation, release, revision, modification, maintenance,
and control of engineering drawings prepared for or by the John F. Kennedy
Space Center (KSC), NASA. Volume I of this manual applies to those drawings
used to fabricate, construct, install, test, operate, maintain, and otherwise
utilize aerospace and ground support equipment (GSE) at KSC. Volume II applies
to drawings used to construct, test, operate, maintain, and otherwise utilize
facilities at KSC. These requirements do not apply to the preparation of
illustrations, artwork, or figures in technical publications. KSC engineering
design practices shall be in accordance with KSC-DE-512-SM and are not
included in this document.
To establish uniform engineering practices and methods for the
preparation and revision of aerospace and ground support equipment engineering
drawings used at KSC, volume I provides:
a. Drafting practices including mechanical and electrical
conventions
b. Drawing formats
c. Types of engineering drawings
d. Procedures for the creation of titles for drawings
e. Methods for revision and change of drawings
f. Procedures for numbering and identification of drawings and
part identification
