Scope:
Purpose:
This specification establishes the engineering requirements for
producing undyed anodic coatings on
aluminum alloys and the properties of such coatings.
Application:
This process has been used typically to increase corrosion resistance
and to provide surfaces which
will promote adherence of paint and other organic finishes, but usage
is not limited to such
applications.
AMS 2472 should be specified for coatings colored by dyeing. This
process is not suitable for parts
which contain joints or recesses in which the anodizing solution may
be retained.
