Initially founded as a multi-national forum in 1982 for the discussion of common space communication issues, CCSDS now includes participation of the leading space communications experts from 28 countries. CCSDS participants include government and quasi-government agencies as well as scientific and industrial entities.
CCSDS actively works to reduce costs to agencies performing common data functions and promotes interoperability and cross support among cooperative space agencies through data and information systems standards. CCSDS is organized along six broad discipline areas. Within each area, CCSDS has chartered working groups to develop recommended standards and practices.
The CCSDS collection contains recommended standards (blue), informational reports (green), and records (yellow). Standards can be directly implanted and used for space mission interoperability and cross support. Reports cover very broad information included supporting analysis, test results, and descriptive material in support of experimental specifications or standards. Records are administrative documents such as charters, procedures, and meeting minutes.
CCSDS Collections:
Online Access - Subscribers get secure online access to search, view, bookmark, track, and print documents according to the license agreement. Online documents are updated daily. Multiple users can share a single license. You also get access to IHS Standards bibliographic data – more than 1 Million documents.
Individual Documents - IHS sell individual documents through the IHS Store in electronic or hard copy formats. Statistics show that 1 out of every 5 people who purchase individual documents would benefit from an online subscription. You should consider a collection over individual document purchases if your company buys more than $3,000 in standards per year.
